Dev.gi started with me, Grant, when I moved to Gibraltar. Most young people move away from Gibraltar to more lucrative careers abroad as it is a very small place! Thus the software, app and website development standards were very, very low.
I put out a single advert on Facebook, thinking it would net one or 2 clients. However, it quickly scaled to become full time. There was a real need for some expertise.
The Bulb
A local creative agency, The Bulb, contacted me asking if they could put me on retainer, which I agreed to. Prior to this their developer spend was outrageously high, but with me that was reduced by 70% and the output was now even higher quality and on time.
The Bulb could now spend less and make more profit, by offering my services through themselves.
At this point I realised I was onto something. A creative agency is very, very good at design. However they find development, technical support and hosting difficult if not impossible.
By using me they reduced spend, increased output and removed 90% of their cognitive load. They were now free to concentrate on their core business and they could say yes to custom app and website development, increasing their revenue!
